Sunday Minimalism Activity: Preparing Our Home for Ramadan

By Azee’s Kitchen

Ramadan is not just about preparing our kitchens with ingredients and recipes—it is about preparing our hearts, homes, and habits.

At Azee’s Kitchen, we believe that a calm, organized home creates space for better ibadah, mindful cooking, and meaningful family moments during this blessed month. That’s why we encourage a simple Sunday Minimalism Activity—a gentle, family-friendly way to welcome Ramadan with clarity and gratitude.

Why Minimalism Before Ramadan?

Before the fasting begins, before the suhoor alarms and iftar preparations, our homes often carry unnecessary clutter—physically and emotionally.

Decluttering before Ramadan helps us:

  • Reduce mental overload

  • Create peaceful prayer spaces

  • Save time and energy during fasting days

  • Practice gratitude for what we already have

Minimalism is not about having less—it’s about making room for what truly matters.

Minimalism Activity (Family-Friendly)

Set aside 60–90 minutes on a Sunday. Play soft Quran recitation or nasheeds, involve children, and approach this as an act of worship, not a chore.

Simple Steps to Follow

  1. Keep only what we use, love, or truly need

If it doesn’t serve a purpose or bring value, it’s time to let go.

  2. Remove one small bag of unused items from each room

Small steps matter. One bag per room is more than enough.

  3. Clear visible surfaces

Tables, shelves, and study desks—remember, calm space = calm mind.

  4. Donate unused clothes, toys, or books

If it hasn’t been used in the last year, someone else may need it more.

  5. Organize your prayer space

Clean prayer mat, Quran, tasbeeh, and dua book—keep it inviting and peaceful.

  6. Declutter kitchen drawers before Ramadan

Remove expired items, unused tools, and excess storage. A peaceful kitchen makes Ramadan cooking lighter and joyful.

  7. Give every item a home

Nothing should be left “just anywhere.” Everything deserves its place.

  8. End with a short dua

Thank Allah for what you have and ask for barakah in your home and heart.

🌸 The Goal

A lighter home.

Peaceful hearts.

A welcoming space for Ramadan.

This small weekly practice helps us enter Ramadan with clarity, intention, and gratitude, instead of rush and overwhelm.
